William (Bill) Henry THOMS

William (Bill) passed away on April 27, 2007 at Mission Memorial Hospital at the age of 81 years.  Bill was predeceased by his brother Albert, and will be lovingly remembered by his wife June and their children Dawn, Peter, Mary and Jenny; grandchildren Chris, Samantha, Jill, Sam, Lauren and Brendan, as well as his sister Mildred and her family.  Bill was born in Fort William, Ontario in 1925.  As a young man, he served with the PPCLI during World War 2 as a paratrooper in Sicily, Italy and Europe.  During his career he was a hard working and conscientious man, involved in general construction, foundry work, truck driving, silver mines and farming.  Bill was an avid fisherman, frequenting the Fraser River, the salt chuck and Vancouver Island.  He also enjoyed bar fishing and was often accompanied by his children.  Sixty years ago this month, he served with his army unit, working to help with sandbagging during the 1948 flood.  Bill was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion #57 and the Elks #30 club. 

A service will be held on June 2, 2007 at 11:00 am at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church at 8469 Cedar St. Mission BC.  An Interment will follow at a later date.
