Devries, Wilbur (Wobbe). May 5, 1932 - Nov. 20, 2012. Early Tuesday morning, Wilbur Devries passed into the loving arms of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. He was surrounded by his family.

Wilbur was born on May 5, 1932, in St. Anna Parohge, Friesland. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 ½ years, Lies Devries, their children Ann (Stephen) Trudeau, Caroline (Eric) Haan, and Marion (Rick) Bouwknecht, and their grandchildren, Nicole, Jesse (Lisa), Kyle, Amanda & Erin, and was soon to be a great-grandfather. Wilbur is also survived by his sister Mae (John) Vlieg and brother Jerry (Trudy) Devries. He was predeceased by his parents Klaske and Sietse Devries, and his sister Evelyn (Bill) Visser. Wilbur immigrated from Holland with his family in 1947, and settled in Edmonton, Alberta. There he made his home and raised his family. He worked for Northwestern Utilities until 1989, when he took an early retirement. He and Lies then moved to Abbotsford, BC to be near their children. Wilbur loved being involved in his church. He was a member of Living Hope Christian Reformed Church in Abbotsford since his move there, and spent many years serving on consistory. His love for his Heavenly Father was a huge part of who Wilbur was, and he and Lies raised their children to believe the same. Wilbur loved his family and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them. He has left a large void in their lives. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, November 26 at Living Hope Christian Reformed Church, 34631 Old Clayburn Road, Abbotsford, officiated by Pastor Colin VanderPloeg.

The family wish to thank the emergency staff and Abbotsford Regional Hospital and the staff at the Royal Columbian Hospital HAU for all their care and support during this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Back to God Hour Ministries. Online condolences to the family may be made at www.woodlawnfh-abbotsford.com
