McDOWALL Walter Robert

May 29, 1927 ~ March 11, 2013

Suddenly passed away at Abbotsford Regional Hospital while being comforted by Alma his loving wife of almost 52 years. His strong Scottish heart decided it had finished serving him. Walter was predeceased by his parents Robert and Doris, brother Bud and sister Irene. He is survived by sister-in-law Vicky, brother-in-law Lorne, nieces, nephews, cousins, his beloved 100 year old Aunt Grace and many friends especially "his girls", Carli and Zandri, who came into his life 18 years ago. Walter was a true Gemini - sociable and outgoing. He remained young in spirit and his facial appearance belied his age even though his body reflected the years of pain endured following a serious work accident 31 years ago. He was a Princess Pat veteran and was honourably discharged after a skiing accident on Mount Norquay. Following recovery, he managed to join the Navy until he was found out teaching new recruits how to parade. He was then admonished to even think about joining the Air Force. Despite everything, he managed to live a long life and always had stories to relate. No service by request. His ashes will be later laid to rest at his hometown in Kenora, ON.

Death leaves a heartache

no one can heal.

Love leaves a memory

no on can steal.
