In loving memory ~
Violet (Vi) Tschierschwitz (nee Gregory) passed away peacefully in her 83rd year, Friday September 23rd at Swan Valley Lodge, in Creston, BC.
Mom prided herself on being self sufficient and in being an "independent woman". She was a caring and compassionate person who pursued nurses training immediately after graduation from high school. She worked as an LPN at the Selkirk Mental Hospital, Mission Memorial Hospital and in 1978 followed her passion to the "newly" opened Psychiatry unit at MSA hospital in Abbotsford, where she continued to work until the age of 74. She touched many peoples lives in her "calling" and when out in the community, she often received hugs from folks who had received her kindness, compassion, and empathy while in her care.
Health issues prompted Vi to relocate from her dear friends in the Lake Erroch community to the Town of Creston in 2021, so she could be closer to family. As always, her engaging manner, love of dogs, and interest in others started to weave a new fabric of community in her adopted home.
Vi was predeceased by a cherished daughter, Krista Brause, parents Fred and Christine Gregory, and sister Rosie Watters.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Erika (Thor), seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, sisters Muriel (Gerry) and Linda (Dennis), nieces, nephews, as well as numerous friends.
The family would like to thank all who contributed to mom's health outcomes over the past 18 months. She often acknowledged how fortunate she was to be in a caring, supportive community and felt "blessed beyond measure".
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date in the Lake Errock Community Park.
As mom was NEVER without an animal or two by her side, (and mourned often for dogs she had loved over the years), memorial donations in Vi's name may be made to the "Seniors for Seniors Foster Program" at Creston Pet Adoption and Welfare Society (PAWS), 2805 Lower Wynndel Road, Creston, BC, V0B 1G8 or to pawscrestontreasurer@gmail.com.
