Violet VACHON

June 19, 2012

VACHON Violet Yoshiko. (nee Fujikawa) Born in Silverdale, BC April 23, 1921, Violet passed away quietly at home in Victoria on June 19, 2012. Living in Vancouver as a young adult and Toronto during WWII, Violet returned to Silverdale in 1947 with husband Al. They moved to Whitehorse in 1952 and Prince George in 1963 before retiring to Mission in 1975. Vi actively served her community through Mission’s Rites of Passage project, the Royal Purple of Canada, Elections BC & Canada, and many social events. She made lasting friendships everywhere she lived. In 2009, Vi moved to Victoria and was endeared by everyone who met her. She is survived by brother-in-law George Broomfield, sister-in-law Simone Lefebvre, and three generations of nieces and nephews. We will miss her dearly. Donations in her honour may be directed to the Mission Community Foundation, Elks and Royal Purple Fund for Children or Canadian Red Cross.
