Verna Crofton
Verna Isobel Crofton passed away peacefully at her home in Abbotsford, December 10, 2006. Beloved mother, sister and school teacher she is survived by her loving daughter Sandy (Miguel) Salas, sister Ruth (Al) Harder and brother Ken (Ruth) Gienger, as well as numerous family, friends, nieces and nephews. She joins her mother Alita Gienger, father Otto Gienger, daughter Jan Crofton and elder sister Doris Wiebe (John Wiebe) at rest.
A vibrant member of both Church and Community Verna dedicated her retirement to many causes including The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, the Mennonite Central Committee (History of Mennonite Culture), the Volkswalk Club, Book Club, Mission Possible and the Carriage Lane Choristers. Verna never passed up an opportunity to embrace a person in need, extend a warm smile or lend a helping hand.
Her caring, friendship and passion for art, music and literature will be sadly missed.
Above all, her faith sustained her, she walked in the Presence and carried it with her. Friends, family, and strangers whose lives she has touched look forward to seeing her again.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 15 at 2:00 pm at the Church of the Nazarene, 2390 McMillan Rd. Abbotsford. Donations may be made in Âmemory of Verna to Samaritan’s Purse, 20 Hopewell Way NE, Calgary, AB T3J 5H5
