Vera LOWE

December 30, 2006

Vera Low passed away on December 30, 2006 at Chilliwack, BC at age 81 years. She was born in Brighton, Sussex, England on May 19, 1925. Vera is survived by her husband James; daughters Vikki (Bill) Ranson, Heather (Frank) Marchildon, Hazel (Ray) Jobbagy, Valerie (Ron) Parsons; 11 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

Vera was born in Brighton, England to Charles and Alice Steer. She was one of 15 siblings. She lived in Brighton and joined the Women’s Land Army in 1942. She met and married Lance Corporal James O. Low RCASC on April 7, 1945 and subsequently moved to Canada in 1946. Vera belonged to the Canadian War Brides Association. She was very active with the Youth Bowling in Duncan and also belonged to the Chemaius Golf and Country Club. As well as the Quesnel Golf Club. After settling in Duncan, she ran a charter fishing boat business with husband Jim. Upon leaving Duncan, Vera and Jim spent 7 years snowbirding until finally settling in Chilliwack. She will be sadly missed by many friends and family.

The family would like to thank Dr. R.F. Carlson and Dr. D. Williams as well as the nursing staff of the Chilliwack Hospital. A special thank you to family friends Rick and Monica Kalyn for their loving care and support. In lieu of ­flowers, donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Society or to the Lung Association.
