JOHNSON, Velma Ruth
April 1922 ~ June 2015
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother Velma on Tuesday, June 16th after a long journey with dementia which she bore with patience and endurance. Velma was predeceased by her husband Robert Thomas, her parents Ed & Katie Nightingale, and two brothers Elmer & Leo Nightingale. Velma is survived and lovingly remembered by her children Charlie (LaRae), Katie (Chuck), Trycle (John), five grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, one brother, two sisters & many extended family members and friends. Velma was born in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma & moved to B.C. with her family in 1961 to a farm on Mt. Lehman Road where she enjoyed her flowers, gardening, baking & quilting. She was a nurses aide at Menno Home for many years & after retirement she enjoyed travelling the world. Special thanks to the staff at Menno Home for their excellent care and support of Mom over the past 6 years. A private family service has been held.
