BROOME; Valerie

It is with great sadness that the family of Valerie Broome announces her passing on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at the age of 84 years. Valerie will be dearly missed by her daughters, Valerie (Larry) Marsolais, Catherine Hamblin and Barbara (Henry) Boldt. She will also be missed by her special friends, Joy Warne, Ivan Penn, Mable Kelly and Vicky Straughn. Born is Beausejour, Manitoba, Valerie moved to Vancouver in 1946 and married her late husband Robert Broome in 1949. They eventually moved to Langley where they purchased a small farm. Valerie developed and ran a very successful and efficient hobby farm raising cattle, chickens and pigs. Thanks to Valerie's hard work her family was self sufficient in fruits and vegetables. Although Valerie had never received any formal training in animal care, she had in instinctive sense and was frequently consulted by neighbouring farmers about the care of sick animals. After 25 years in Langley, Valerie moved to Abbotsford. She had a zest for travel and was fortunate to experience the beauty and history of Europe, Asia, and the Far East with her last adventure being to the Canadian Arctic. A celebration of life will take place on Sunday, December 7th, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Crown Point Villa's Amenities Room, 3292 Vernon Terrace, Abbotsford, BC.
