June 1, 1934 – January 13, 2020
Tony Visser, age 85, of Abbotsford, BC passed away peacefully January 13, 2020 in Red Deer, Alberta.
Born June 1, 1934 in Mander, Overijessel in the Netherlands, Tony came to Canada on his own at the age of 19 with a dream of farming. He spent time in Ontario and Edmonton before settling in Grand Forks, BC where he met and married Jenny. In 1967, they moved to Abbotsford where they dairy farmed until 1985.
Tony was predeceased by his wife Jenny in 2019 and his son Gary in 2007. He leaves behind his two children: Roselyn (Curtis) Weinrauch of Innisfail, and Gail (Kevin) Shaw of Wetaskiwin; and five beautiful granddaughters: Alyssa, Brianna, Haley, Kristen (Justin) and Rachel. He also leaves his brother Roel (Lucy) Visser in St. Nicholaasga, Netherlands as well as many nieces and nephews.
Family was very important to Tony. He cared for both Gary and Jenny for many years and took great pleasure in spending time with his daughters and granddaughters. He was immensely proud of them all, and leaves behind beautiful memories. Tony’s sense of humour and the twinkle in his eye will be remembered by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Red Deer Hospice Society who took such great care of Tony, and his family.
