NIKKEL Tony (Anton). (1924 ~ 2012)It is with sorrow and hope that we announce the loss of husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Anton (Tony) Nikkel. Tony passed into the presence of his Lord and Saviour on January 6, 2012. He was born in Gretna, Manitoba on September 24, 1924 to Jacob and Maria Nikkel, the youngest of thirteen children. Tony resided in BC since 1946 working with the Cities of New Westminster and Revelstoke. In 1976 he moved to Abbotsford and was involved in construction. He dedicated much of his time to The Gideons, church and community activities. He especially enjoyed times spent with family. He is missed by Tina, his loving wife of 65 years, children, Ken (Donna), Warren (Wanda), Bob, and Debbie (Dennis), nine grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents and all siblings. The family is grateful for the excellent care and love shown Tony by the staff at The Cottage Pavilion. A viewing will be held at Henderson's Fraser Valley Funeral Home at 34537 Marshall Road on Wednesday, January 11, 7:00 - 8:30 pm. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 12 at 1:30 pm at Central Heights Church, 1661 McCallum Road, Abbotsford. Donations in memory of Tony may be made to The Gideons or Stillwood Camp and Conference Centre.
