Tom Van Keulen

October 8th 1941 ~ February 12th 2017

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tom Van Keulen. He will be lovingly missed by his children Pauline (Greg), Elena, Darrin and Duane (Meghan). Tom has seven grandchildren Bryce, Jordan, Connor, Daniel, Hayden, Vanessa and Rebecca, a large extended family and one special cousin Willem (Bill) Willemse, who was more like a brother to him. Tom immigrated from Amsterdam in 1958 and worked various jobs before owning and operating his own business, Tom's Painting and Decorating for over forty years in Abbotsford. Tom's passions were coaching his son's hockey and soccer teams, singing, playing guitar and tennis, hiking, fine cuisine, and coming up with new inventions. On most evenings you could find him watching sports, space, and nature programs along with his all time favorite "Judge Judy". "The Wild Dutchman" had many friends over the years with enough stories to fill this entire newspaper, he could be found most mornings playing sports action and grabbing his coffee from the 711 girls. Dad was a diamond in the rough who would go the extra mile to help a friend in need, he will be deeply missed. A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 pm at the Holmberg House on Saturday, February the 18th. In lieu of flowers please donate to the BC Children's Hospital.
