Thomas Collin HARRISON

September 23, 2008

HARRISON, THOMAS COLLIN

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Thomas Collin Harrison, long-time resident and dedicated member of the community of Abbotsford, B.C. Born on September 12, 1941 in Bishop Auckland, England, Collin left us, tragically, and far too soon on September 23, 2008, aged 67.

Survived by his beloved wife Joyce, dedicated sons Morton and Jeremy, with their wives Catherine and Jennifer, and cherished grandchildren Jonathan, Christopher, Nicholas and Olivia. He will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched, and fondly remembered by those who knew him, especially his sister Shona, family and friends in England.

Born, raised and educated in England, Collin immigrated with his family to Canada in 1979. A PhD in Metallurgy, he worked with great dedication and integrity all his life in the steel industry, even after his official retirement in 2006. Through his work, he helped build the infrastructure that supports our communities in B.C., Canada, and around the world. And as treasurer and key member of Calvin Presbyterian Church in Abbotsford, he volunteered of his time, skills and creativity to make those communities better places for all.

A man of honour, dignity, and civility, Collin had an innate curiosity and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. May God rest his soul, and endow him with eternal peace, serenity and the answers to all his questions.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 3 at Calvin Presbyterian Church in Abbotsford. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Calvin Church New Building Fund.
