September 8, 1931 - December 25, 2021
It is with great sadness and heartbreak that we announce the passing of our father and grandfather, Ted Werner, who died suddenly on Christmas morning at Abbotsford Regional Hospital at the age of 90.
Dad was a determined spirit known for his mischievous smile, his sense of humour and his strong work ethic. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who would do anything for his family.
He leaves behind his partner and wife of more than 50 years, Renate, his children Gordon (Julie), Gabrielle (Eric) and his grandchildren, Katie, Emily, Jake and Stephanie. He is pre- deceased by his eight siblings, of whom he was the youngest.
Dad was born in Poland and moved with his family to Germany in the 1930s. He came to Canada in the early 1950s with his brothers, traveling across the country, from Nova Scotia to B.C., where he worked most of his life in the Forest industry of Upper Fraser and later at S&R Sawmills in Surrey. Mom and Dad raised their family in North Delta and moved to Abbotsford after his retirement in 1992. He and mom enjoyed many travels across Canada and to Arizona in their motorhome, as well as extended vacations abroad to Mexico and Europe to explore and visit relatives.
Dad will be remembered for his many jokes, his mastery of cribbage, his knack for grilling "well done" steaks on the BBQ, and his kind and caring heart, which could not carry his body any longer. You are gone, Dad, but will never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice in Ted's name. A celebration of life will be held at a later time, with interment at Valley View Memorial Gardens in Surrey.
Love you, Dad!
