BARKMAN, Tena
Tena Barkman (nee Plett) of Abbotsford, BC, born September 4, 1921 in Russia, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at the Menno Hospital. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Menno (1981), and all her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her sister-in-law Sue Plett and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Leo & Alma Barkman, all of Winnipeg, as well as her three children and their families; son Ron (Mary Lou) and their family Kristin & Jeremy all of Langley; daughter Darlene (Ron) Lind and their family Andrea (Aaron) Kaeli & Meredith Lester of Oliver, BC and Melanie (Matt) Laurelle & Felix Nielsen of Abbotsford, BC; son Les (Elaine) and their family Darnell (Christina) & Cody Barkman of Abbotsford and Tyson Barkman of Abbotsford.
The family would like to thank the team of caregivers at the Menno Hospital for their loving care during her short two week stay. If desired, donations in memory of Tena may be made to The Women's Center, Central Heights Church and would be gratefully accepted in lieu of flowers.
Tena's generous gift of hospitality will be missed by all who had the privilege of being served by her. With peace and assurance she acknowledged God's goodness, grace, and faithfulness in her life. Her legacy will be celebrated at Central Heights Church, 1661 McCallum Rd. on Tuesday, March 29 @ 11:00 am. An opportunity for viewing and reflection will be available Monday, March 28 from 7:30 to 8:30 pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Rd. Online condolences may be given at
