She emigrated to Canada with her parents and little sister in 1924. The parents settled in the village of Blumenort, Saskatchewan and made their living as farmers. Susan accepted Christ as her personal Savior at the age of 13 on February 1, 1937 and was baptized on August 25, 1940. She finished grade 9-11 by correspondence in the public school in Blumenort and then went to Rosthern, Sask. to finish grade 12. She graduated from Vancouver General Hospital in the 1950’s as an R.N followed by a year at UBC in Public Health. When both parents became ill with terminal cancer, Susie took leave of absence from her work for two years and nursed them at home where they died under her loving care. After the parents passing she worked as an RN at MSA Hospital for 13 years and took early retirement in 1985. Susan and her sister Marie did a lot of travelling in Canada, USA and abroad. Susan and her brother Ed did a lot of singing together at home. She joined a choir in the church wherever she attended. Her health started to deteriorate in 2004 and she was admitted to the Menno Nursing Home in 2006 where she died at 6:43 pm on May 23, 2010 with Marie at her bedside.
