Susanna Ethel (nee Krumenacker) Chambers

Susanna (Sue) Chambers passed away peacefully in her 99th year at Abbotsford Menno Home. She was predeceased by her loving husband, William Clifford (Bill) Chambers in 1990 and four sisters, Lena, Beth, Margaret and Anna. She is survived by her sister Barbara Loos in Weyburn, SK and two brothers, Michael (Rose) in Kelowna BC and Joseph (Mary) in McTaggart, Saskatchewan; three daughters, Louise Carter (Kirk) Sycamous BC, Caroline Imakire (Frank) Abbotsford, BC, and Margaret-Ann Houghton (Terry) Fort St. James, BC; nine grandchildren, Laurel (Dale), Lisa (Bethel), Gordie (Dawn), Tara (John), Jason (Michelle), Terri-Ann (Aaron), Cherri-Lynn (Dana), Jairus (Kirralie), Craig (Deirdrie); and 11 great grandchildren.

Sue was born in Yellowgrass Sk and raised on a grain farm. She moved to BC in 1934, first worked at Buchart Gardens as a housekeeper and then held various home maker positions until she married Bill in 1938 in Abbotsford. They resided here for the remainder of their lives. Sue and Bill traveled extensively in their retirement years and Sue continued her travels with her children.

Sue belonged to Trinity Memorial United Church since 1939 where she taught Sunday School for many years and was an active member and executive of U.C.W. She was a founding member of the seniors “Friendship Centre” and also the “Happy Gang” choir.

Graveside service for the immediate family at Hazelwood Cemetery at 1:00 pm March 21. A tea will be served at 2:00 pm in the multi purpose room in Menno Home, Marshall Rd. entrance.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to charity of choice.
