Susana Wiens

Susana Wiens (91) of Abbotsford, BC, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord on January 22, 2017. Susana was born on June 25, 1925 in the village of Ivanowka, near Omsk, Siberia. Her family fled to South America in 1930, where they settled in the Mennonite colony of Fernheim in the Paraguayan Chaco. Here Susana was baptized upon her confession of faith on November 5, 1944. She married Hans Wiens on March 1, 1947. They served the Lord as missionaries in Paraguay. Susana’s support and attitude of service was a great blessing to their ministry. They raised five children and in 1975 the family moved to Vancouver, BC. During their years in Canada, Susana supported Hans, who was pastor of the Vancouver Mennonite Brethren Church. After retirement they moved to Abbotsford, BC, where she has been an active member of the King Road MB Church. Saying goodbye, but celebrating a fulfilled and blessed life, are Susana’s five children and spouses, eleven grandchildren and spouses, nine great-grandchildren, and relatives and friends around the world. The family expresses their gratitude to the staff of Home Support and Abbotsford Regional Hospital for their compassionate and loving care for Susana. The Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, February 10 at 12:00 noon at King Road MB Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Logos Canada.

“Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice!

For we can do everything through Christ, who gives us strength.”
