VANDERVEEN - GRABBE

Susan Ann (Susie)

1960 ~ 2009

Susie will be missed forever by her loving husband and best friend Audie, her parents Tommy and Fay Vanderveen, and her five siblings, Gerri, (Doug) Cindy, (Don) Allen Tom, Trevor, Jeff (Sherri), her darling nephew Matthew, her 'adopted son' Robert Brodeur, the Matsqui Vanderveens, Auntie Grace and Aunt Shirley, Stepdaughters Christina and Angela and 5 grandchildren.

Susie will be remembered by most for her sense of humour and playfulness. She loved working with flowers, designing and creating was her passion. She opened the original Windsong Florist in 1983 which she sold in 1996. The flower shop was a social place where Susie, her husband, and friends, family and staff went to all hours and lengths to deliver the roses at Valentines day, and the fruit baskets for Christmas, and cheer all year round. Later, on their dairy farm (The Mootel) she raised young stock, where each calf was named to suit it's personality. Susie loved being at their cabin in Merritt and couldn't wait to get back there to Ski-do and visit around the bonfire with Audie, Matthew, Robert and friends.

In her younger life, she loved to race her red Camaro on Dixon Road, and could easily stack hay bales higher on the wagon than most guys! She was a force to be reckoned with. Susie demonstrated that same fighting spirit to the very end of her illness, tiny and feisty. Susie had fun and that's how she'd want to be remembered. It's not how much time you have in your life, it's how much life you have in your time."

Memorial service will be held at The Rancho, Delair Rd., Abbotsford, on Friday, January 23rd at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Salvation Army, in memory of Susie
