Sue Dirks, age 77, passed away on December 14, 2005 to be with her Savior. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 48 years, Walter Dirks, in 1996.
Sue leaves behind two sons and their families: Doug and Joanne Dirks (Karl, Paula and Erica) from Lancaster, Pennsylvania; Ray and Katie Dirks (Lauren and Alexa) from Winnipeg; daughter Janyce of Vancouver Island; granddaughter Chelsea Wright from Victoria; nine siblings and their families and 13 sibling families on her husband's side.
Susie Siemens was born in Superb, Sask. and grew up in Rabbit lake, Sask. and Strathmore, Alberta. She married Walter Dirks of Namaka, Alberta in 1948. They moved to Abbotsford in 1951. Sue's adult life was filled with suffering from myriad ailments. Throughout her job-like journey she maintained an unwavering faith in Christ.
Thanks to the staff at the Maple Hills Hospice in Langley and the staff and homecare workers at the Menno Home in Abbotsford. Special thanks to Helen Janzen and to Ron and Sue Hunter. Also, thanks to Liz Schroeder, siblings, friends and other relatives who helped along her journey — with special mention for Amanda Dirks, Marilyn Dirks, Shirley Siemens and Val Dirks.
Viewing will be on Monday, December 19 from 7:30 - 9:00 pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home on Clearbrook Rd. Burial is at 9:30 am at the South Poplar Cemetery, Tuesday, December 20, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 am at the South Abbotsford Mennonite Brethren Church on Huntingdon Rd. In lieu of flowers make donations to the Mennonite Central Committee.
