DOWNE Stanford Perley

Passed away peacefully at his home in Barrie, Ontario on April 22, 2013. Stan is survived by his wife Helen, the love of his life for over 64 years who continues to reside in their family home in Barrie, Ontario. Stan is also survived by his sons Ron (Gael) of Pender Island, BC, Don (Marlene) of Bridgewater NS and his daughter Linda (Roger) Brassard of Barrie, ON, as well as his seven grandchildren Michelle (Shannon) Feener, Jeremy (Becky) Downe, Magen (Jordan) Brassard, Courtney (Jason) Brassard, Katie Brassard, Jenn (Eric) Downe and Kristina (Andrew) Bryant and four great grandchildren Colby, Rylan, Evelyn and Samantha. Stan began his working career with Canada Packers in Charlottetown, P.E.I. Stan started working in the plant at 16, and later become an award winning salesman before assuming responsibility of the poultry division. He went on to hold management positions with the company in Ottawa, ON and Abbotsford, BC. After retiring from Canada Packers, Stan and Helen moved to Bridgewater NS, where they owned and operated a turkey farm. Stan was active in the Lions Club in Abbotsford and Charlottetown, and served as a Board member of the Nova Scotia and British Columbia Turkey Marketing Board, as well as serving on the Canadian Turkey Marketing Board. Stan and Helen moved to Barrie, ON in 2007. Stan was a devoted husband, Dad, Poppy and Great-Grandfather, and remains the heart of the family. He had a unique ability to make each of his children, grandchildren and great-grand- children feel loved, respected and extra special. Stan’s love and devotion to his family was apparent to all who knew him, he was proud of their every success and was always there to offer support in their endeavors as their biggest cheerleader. His love of family is best reflected by the saying;

“Family is where Life begins and Love never ends.”
