In Loving Memory
After a brief hospitalization, Sid passed away peacefully of congestive heart failure at Abbotsford Regional Hospital. Born in Eastermar, Friesland, the Netherlands, Sid married Folkertje (Fay) de Vries in 1948 and with nothing, but $100 in his pocket, they immigrated two weeks later to Canada. Sid worked at Dairyland for 22 years before retiring in 1987. He enjoyed his cabin at Cultas Lake, his hobby farm and tinkering in his shed during his 24 years of retirment. There was nothing he could not fix.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Fay of 63 years, whom he adored, and his four children: Jeanette and Andy Zandberg, Peter, Gary (Tracy) and Marie and Glenn Johnson; his grandchildren: Lisa (Kent) Novakowski, Sean (Jenya) Zandberg, Nicole Zandberg, Jennifer Zandberg and Brittany, Devin and Carlee Johnson; great-grandchildren; Hailey Monroe, Shaynah, Caleb and Christopher Novakowski, Madelyn Zandberg and Liam Zandberg.
All who remember Dad will remember his love of telling stories of his past, every detail remembered even eighty-some years later. And we loved to listen - now, it is too quiet. We love you Dad. No service by request.
