SHECK, Shirwood Judson
74, Hubbards, passed away Friday May 21, 2010 at home. Born in New Salem, Cumberland Co., Nova Scotia .He was the son of the late Harold and Gertrude (Brown) Sheck of Parrsboro. Shirwood spent 13 years in the Royal Canadian Air Force, serving 2 years in France. He moved to the lower mainland of British Columbia where he completed a commerce degree at UBC. For the next 35 years he owned and operated a consulting company working primarily with concrete remedial situations in nuclear power plants in over 40 countries. His last 5 years was spent in real estate in Abbotsford, BC. He is survived by his loving and gracious wife Anne, two children Cheryl and Mark, two stepchildren Lisa and Paul of BC; four grandsons, Levi, Glenn Ryan and Francis; six great grandchildren Taylor, Keidon, Talon, Kai, Jordan, and Sophie; twin brother, Norwood (Evelyn), Port Alberni, BC; sister Dora Melanson, Hubbards; four nephews and five nieces. Sadly missed by many friends and Anne’s 5 children, 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his first wife, Joyce Orr Sheck; sisters, Dale and Alwinda (Billy). Funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday May 29th from St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Hubbards. Rev. Laurie Omstead officiating.
