PEARY Sharon Gail Peary (Demaine)
May 4, 1939 ~ July 10, 2009
Sharon passed away at the Langley Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer. Born, raised and educated in Prince Albert, SK. Sharon won the Governor General's award and received a full scholarship to the University of Alberta in Rehabilitation Medicine becoming a physiotherapist. Upon graduating she worked in Saskatchewan Children's Rehabilitation Centre, St. Paul's Polio unit and University of Saskatchewan Hospital on the open-heart surgical team. She attended the Roosevelt Foundation in Georgia for postgraduate studies on neuromuscular / muscular skeletal disorders. Sharon married in 1963. From 1978 ~ 2001, she was the working manager in the physiotherapy department at MSA hospital, retiring from full time to casual in 2003. Sharon enjoyed reading, traveling, cooking and entertaining, but her passion was family. "Nana" is survived by 3 children, their spouses, and 8 grandchildren: Paula Kimoto, husband Dwayne, and children Jason, Lauren and Megan of Langley; Wade Peary, wife Jacquelyn, children Kira and Deja of Abbotsford; and Matthew Peary, wife Katherine, children Brendan, Connor and Cecelia of Wethersfield, CT. Sharon is also survived by 2 brothers: Guy and Murray; sister Karen; and many nieces and nephews. Sharon's memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 16th, 2009 at 2:00pm at Henderson's Fraser Valley Funeral Home at 34537 Marshall Road in Abbotsford.
