Sharon Elizabeth Bethune (Wigley/Oldenborger)

Sharon was born on February 6, 1939 in Timmins, Ontario. She passed away peacefully after successfully surviving an extensive battle with cancer, only to be defeated shortly after with pneumonia on January 3, 2008 in Prince George, B.C. Sharon is survived by her loving son Richard Lee Oldenborger; daughter-In-Law Lennie Oldenborger; Sharon’s granddaughter Dasha Lee Oldenborger, and her siblings David, Micheal and Colleen of the Wigley family. In Sharon’s last few years, she enjoyed the supportive relationships of her neighbors in Prince George whom became her best friends; Janet and Irvin Bleich, and their grandchildren Autum-Lee, Dawson, and Denae, with further care and support from Karin and Paul Martwig and Gerry and Lynne Bomford. These wonderful people made every effort to support Sharon during her times of illness, when her immediate family was geographically too distant to meet these daily needs. We are eternally grateful to those giving friends/neighbors in Prince George who were so kind and supportive.

Sharon championed the development, design and construction of Galaxy Bowladrome in Abbotsford, B.C. in 1969. She was instrumental in respect to the success of this family operation. Sharon chose the name “Galaxy” with the goal that everyone whom would patronize this establishment would be a star.

My Mother Sharon has positively influenced many people and organizations in her life despite the obstacles that challenged her. We are proud to announce that Sharon has willed a generous amount of her estate to the S.P.C.A. and the World Wildlife Fund. We are confident that her contributions will make this world better for those that can not speak for themselves.

Sharon’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at Lakewood Funeral Home, at 1:00 pm, 1055 Ospika Blvd., Prince George B.C. V2M 3R6. Phone 250.562.5915
