Sarah Parenteau was born at Telkwa, BC on November 24, 1927 and she passed away on August 4, 2005 at the Royal Columbian Hospital, New Westminster, BC. She was predeceased by her parents Mary and Jimmy Thomas; sister Irene Pierreroy; her sons Victor, Eddy and Charlie Parenteau, and Leslie (Sonny) Thomas. Sarah is survived by her brothers Charles (Chuck), David (Pauline), and Alexander “Alex” Thomas (Ethel); her children Ruby (Jim) White, Gladys (Ralph) Peters, Larry, Elvis, Victor and Jackie Parenteau and Raymond (Tammy) Diablo; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Sarah was raised in Tyee Lake and attended public school in Telkwa. She secured her first job at Sunnyside Cannery in Prince Rupert, BC. Later Sarah met her soulmate Gordon Kaldestad, and together they raised numerous foster children, traveling extensively until settling in Mission, BC in 1987. Gordon passed away in 1989, which affected Sarah deeply. She is now at peace, together again with her true love.
A Service was held on Monday, August 8, 2005 at Woodlawn Mission Funeral Home. Interment of ashes took place at Hazelwood Cemetery on Saturday, August 27, 2005. The family would like to thank the Dialysis Unit in Abbotsford and the taxi company of Mission for all the assistance that they gave to Sarah.
