Sadie CLARKSTON

Sadie Clarkston (nee Sandra Sucholotosky)passed away peacefully on February 2, 2012, at age 92, at

the Menno Hospital in Abbotsford, BC. Born in Smoky Lake, Alberta, on August 3, 1919 and raised on the family homestead. Married to Oscar Taff Clarkston (originally from Harlan, KY) in Smoky Lake on October 25, 1941 and immediately moved to homestead deep in the woods in Fife, BC (mountain south of

Christina Lake). They built their own cabin and homesteaded at Fife until 1947, when they moved to Canyon, BC (outside of Creston) and again built own home and homesteaded on small farm. Was age 33, with two girls, before first got electricity and indoor plumbing. Always a stay-at-home Mom

and wife. Moved into town (Creston) in 1970, where she lived (and still maintained a huge garden) until August 2003, when she moved to Abbotsford, BC. Will be lovingly remembered by daughters Ardis (Ian C.) MacLeod (Richmond, BC) and Shirley (Rand) Carr (Abbotsford, BC), 5 grandchildren, Heather, Stephanie and Cameron MacLeod, Melanie (MacLeod) Bolton

(and husband Johnny) and Aaron Guthrie (and fiancé Emma Waylen) and 3 great-granddaughters, Chloe, Taylor and Sadie

Bolton and many friends in Creston. Predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Oscar (February 15, 2004), her parents

Theodor (1962) and Yvonna (Lazuriuk) (1937) Sucholotosky and 2 brothers (Nick – 1979 and Willie – 1998) and 2 sisters (Helen Delin/Palamarek – 1996 and Kate Shulha – 1976). Active

for many years with her church in Erickson (Canyon/Creston), the Evangelical Covenant Church. We thank the entire staff and residents of Menno Hospital in Abbotsford, BC for their

kindness and caring. Flowers gratefully declined. A private family memorial will be held at a later date, with internment of ashes in Clarkston family plot in the Evergreen Cemetery,

Grand Forks, BC. If desired, donations may be made in Sadie’s name to the Alzheimer Society, 20 Eglington Ave West, Toronto, ON M4R 1K8.
