In Loving Memory ~
In great sadness, we announce the passing of Rosemary Helene Pede, or "Toots" to those who knew her best.
Born Sept. 3, 1961 in Matsqui to Joe and Rose Zomar, Rosemary was one of 12 siblings, the youngest girl in the family.
At 18, she met Scott, her husband of 41 years, through Abbotsford Taxi and knew she had found the one. They settled in Abbotsford, raising two children, Kyle and Kayla.
In 1980, Rosemary started working for the B.C. Ministry of Agriculture, a job she would hold for nearly 40 years until she and Scott left Abbotsford to move to 108 Mile Ranch in 2019. Rosemary came out of retirement in 2021 to take on the job as receptionist and circulation manager for the 100 Mile Free Press, a role she loved and embraced with gusto and humour. Her natural desire to help people and work with the public made her a charismatic member of the team.
Her lunch hours were spent walking in downtown 100 Mile House or relaxing with a cup of her favourite Tim Hortons coffee. Over the next few years, the rest of her family joined her in the South Cariboo, bringing her much joy, pride and love, especially being so close to her grandchildren.
In her off-time, Rosemary enjoyed watching hockey, fishing, blueberry picking and gardening. She became a familiar face at the local bingo halls in 108 Mile and Lac La Hache, where she was a whiz with the bingo dabbers flying over dozens of cards.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband Scott, son Kyle (Cynthia), daughter Kayla and four grandchildren: Aidan, Lauren, William and Eleanor and numerous siblings, cousins and nieces and nephews. She is deeply missed by her Free Press family.
A Day for Rosemary will be held June 3 at St. Timothy's Anglican Church with a 1 p.m. viewing and a 2 p.m. service. A Hungarian-Ukrainian meal will follow at 4747
Anzeeon Rd., 108 Mile Ranch
