SCHILLING; Rose

It is with extreme sadness that the children of Rose Schilling announce her passing on December 13, 2014 at the age of 85 years. She was born Rosabelle Marie Thompson, the youngest of six children of Jack and Zerella Thompson of Lacombe, Alberta. She married George (Dode) Johnstone Gillies in 1947 and together they farmed along the east side of Gull Lake until his passing in 1951. She later married Robert Schilling in 1953. They spent most of the adult life in Hinton, Alberta until Rose move to Abbotsford, BC in the early 1980s. Rose moved back to Alberta in 2008 to be close to her children and resided in Edmonton until her passing. She leaves to mourn her loss four children - John (Marlene) Gillies of Lacombe, Linda (Lawrence) Billey of Sherwood Park, Bob Schilling of Edmonton and Larry (Cathy) Schilling of Lindsay, ON. She also leaves nine grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and an extended Billey family who will greatly miss their Gramma Rose. She will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews and very many life long friends. Rose was predeceased by her infant daughter Louise, first husband George and second husband Robert, her parents and five siblings Edna, Earl, Lawrence, Clarence and Jack. Rose has requested no formal funeral. A family burial will take place in the spring. Donations can be made to the Al Anon organization where she was actively involved in Abbotsford and Edmonton.
