WITTEVEEN (nee: Meints); Rosa

Rosa was born in Assen, the Netherlands, on August 20th, 1943. In 1954 she immigrated to Canada with her family, settling in Houston, BC. On October 7th, 1965, she married Albert Witteveen in Abbotsford, and they were blessed with three children. Over the years, Rosa had to deal with a number of health problems which often made life difficult for her, leading to a number of surgeries and hospitalizations. But when she was physically well, she loved to bowl, she became an avid golfer, worked on the family dairy farm, and picked raspberries with the kids. Rosa loved to sing, and was a member of her church choir, and also enjoyed doing handicrafts, like crocheting and needlepoint. Her sweaters, baby blankets, and afghans are still being used and enjoyed in many homes! She had the greenest of green thumbs, and kept her home filled with thriving plants. She was also a long-time member of TOPS, rarely missing a meeting. Rosa had the gift of hospitality, and there was always room for one more person around the table. She is survived by Albert, her husband of 51 years, their three children, Hetty (Julius), Jim (Nallely), and Carol (Brian), and thirteen grandchildren (William, Cory, Alex, Allison, Zachary, Tyson, Ian, McKinley, Ashton, Jesse, Destiny, Duke, and Rosie). In the final years of her life she suffered a great deal with physical weakness and severe chronic pain. Her death marks not the end, but a new beginning, free of pain, suffering, and sorrow, in the presence of her God and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Burial and Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Hazelwood Cemetery and Canadian Reformed Church in Abbotsford.
