On Thursday, December 5, 2002 Ronald Ian Loftus died tragically in a car accident in Abbotsford, B.C. Ron was predeceased by his mom, Ruby in 1999.
Ron was born in Edmonton, Alberta in 1947. Ron, his parents, Tom and Ruby and baby sister Trudy, lived in Innisfree, Alberta.
The Loftus family then moved to Nelson, B.C. before settling in Vancouver. After graduation from Killarney Secondary School, Ron travelled to Europe and North Africa and lived in England for 1 year. He spent the next 25 years working in the forest industry and was a member of the IWA . He met Carol Fissel in 1978 and they lived together in Dewdney and Mission, B.C. for 25 years.
Ron enjoyed living in the Mission area and participated in many events in the community, where he had many good friends and neighbours. The most rewarding aspect of Ron's life was his family, especially his three daughters. He was so proud of all of them. He supported them in all their activities, and he especially loved snowboarding with them.
Ron was currently enrolled in an aircraft structural repair technician program at UCFV and was looking forward to embarking on a new career. Ron had many interests such as computers, cycling, house repairs, mechanics, walking his dog, Guinness and beer. He was an unwavering supporter of the Vancouver Canucks, the BC Lions and the Mission River Hawks.
Ron leaves behind his father Tom; his wife Carol and their three very special daughters, Camille (14), Emma (12) and Jade (11); his sister Trudy Hamilton, her husband Gary and their children Stacy, Tommy and Todd.
Ron was a favourite uncle to his many nieces and nephews; treasured by all of his brothers and sister-in-law, as well as close friends. Everyone who met Ron will remember his sense of humour and his laugh. Ron's time on this planet was too short and he will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
The Fissel-Loftus family thanks everyone for their kindness and support. A Service of Remembrance will take place on Thursday, December 12, 2002 at 3:30 p.m. in the reception area of the Cedar Valley Mennonite Church, 32840 Janzen Avenue, Mission, B.C.
