Bob had lived in Mission BC for the last 32 years. He was born in Flesherton ON, the youngest of 6 children and grew up in Bracebridge ON. Bob graduated as a Mechanical Engineer from the University of Toronto in 1944 and immediately joined the army (RCEME). In May 1945 he was posted to Prince Rupert. At the end of the war he married Margaret and they settled in Beaupre QC, where their 4 children were born. In 1960 after 14 years in Quebec working for the Abitibi Paper Co. Bob and family moved to East Pakistan, (now Bangladesh) to work for 4 years at a new paper mill there. He later spent 3 years at a mill in Chile. He then started his own consulting firm doing business in the Philippines, Brazil, India, Algeria and Chile. He retired to Mission and ran Perma Green Turf Farms for a number of years. When re closed that enterprise he devoted himself to his cows, sheep, and chickens at the farm on Hatzic lake. He and Margaret also spent their winters traveling all over the southwest and southern states of the U.S. In February 2010 he became ill with leukemia. He died at Mission Hospice on Sunday morning November 21. He is survived by Margaret, his son Donald(Patricia), son Robert, 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. A service to celebrate his life will be held at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, 8469 Cedar St., Mission at 1:30pm, Saturday December 11, 2010. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mission Hospice Society.
