Richard (Dick) Savage

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Richard Savage. He will be lovingly missed by his wife, Connie, of 63 years, his daughters, Brenda (Russ), and Sherry. Dick was blessed with three grandchildren Deon (Jon), Wesley, and Matthew as well as three great grandchildren Eric, Alexander, and Lincoln. He was loved and cherished by sister Pierrette (Andy), sisters-in-law Joan (Ken), and Theresa and numerous nieces and nephews in Quebec, Ontario, and BC. Richard was predeceased by his parents Yvonne and Leo, brother Raymond, and mother-in-law Coral Kach. Dick proudly served his country in the Canadian Armed Forces for 37 years. His colourful career took him around the world. From Master Warrant Officer he earned his commission and retired as a Major. Dick and Connie began their wonderful retirement life in Abbotsford in 1987. Dick became deeply involved and proud of the time, the friendships, and the support that he received while being a dedicated member of the Masonic Order. He was a member of the Abbotsford Masonic Lodge No. 70, Gizeh Shriner of B.C. & Yukon, Abbotsford Shrine Club No. 40, Scottish Rights Freemasonry, and Legion of Honor. He enjoyed the meaningful commitment of assisting sick children. He was a member of the Fraser Valley Vintage Vehicle Club, and many other associations. Richard enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing, curling, maintaining his home, playing cards, and being a prankster. Cremation of Richard has taken place. A Masonic Memorial will be held on February 26 at 2:00 p.m. at the Rancho at 35110 DeLair Road, Abbotsford. A luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers it was Dick’s request that donations be made to: Shriners of British Columbia and Yukon Child Services Society at 3550 Wayburn Drive, Burnaby, BC V5G 3K9. The society provides transportation for sick children and a modest daily living allowance while away from home.
