Richard Collins of Mission, BC, passed away peacefully into the presence of the Lord with his family at his side on Sept. 12, 2004. He was born on Oct. 10, 1921 at Telkwa, BC.

He was predeceased by his mother Louisa in 1978; father Edward in 1949; his wives Jean (Dobie) in 1949 and Muriel (Terris) in 1997; brother Lenard in 1973 and sister Edna in 1995.

Dick is survived by his daughters Gay (Ivan) McConachie and Jean (Rick) Jamieson of Mission, and Karen (Alan) Vaness of Kamloops; sons Garry (Joanne) Adams and John (Debbie) Collins of Mission, and Richard (Donna) Collins of Leduc, Alberta; grandsons Calvin (Lee) Adams, Greg (Michelle) Adams, Scott and Barrie McConachie, Allan (Christal) Jamieson, Collin and Len Vaness and Jonathan Collins; granddaughters Gwen (Larry) Adams, Colleen (Brian) Glen, Candice, Molly, Heather and Ashley Collins; great grandchildren Kayla, Nick and Curtis Adams, Sadie and Jaenelle Jamieson and Caden Salsbury.

Richard was a WW II veteran and served with the 102nd Heavy Battery Canadians Artillery. He saw service in the United Kingdom, central Mediterranean area and central Europe. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 58 years.

The family extends a special thank you to the doctors from the Medical Group and the nurses and staff of Mission Memorial Hospital.

A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004 at 10:30 am at Woodlawn Mission Funeral Home, 7386 Horne St., Mission, BC. Interment will follow in the Legion Section of Hatzic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Dick’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Fund or the Kidney Foundation.
