VANOENE, Rev. William W.J. In His infinite wisdom and at His appointed time on September 23, 2013, the Lord called home His faithful servant Rev. William W.J. VanOene at the age of 93. He was born on March 6, 1920 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 70 years Ietje VanOene. Also survived by his children, Rick and Nora VanOene of Surrey, BC; Renee and John Vandeburgt of Abbotsford, BC; Joanne and Harold Bultena of Fergus, ON; and Irene and Cor Bultena of Fergus, ON, 13 grandchildren and 33 great- grandchildren. He was predeceased by one infant son Wiechert in 1949. Rev. and Mrs. VanOene came to Canada in 1952 with one infant son. Rev. VanOene was minister of the Maranatha Canadian Reformed Church in New Westminster, BC for 17 years and then moved to Ontario where he served the Maranatha Canadian Reformed Church in Fergus, Ont. for 15 years before retiring in 1985. After his retirement he and his wife returned to British Columbia, settling in Abbotsford, where he remained active in service, and was still able to preach the Word occasionally, even as recently as two weeks prior to his death. He also wrote several books including: Inheritance Preserved, With Common Consent and Patrimony Profile. The memorial service was held in the Abbotsford Canadian Reformed Church on Friday, September 27th, 2013 with the interment following the service at Hazelwood Cemetery in Abbotsford.
