June 7, 1937 - November 8, 2021
On November 8, 2021, Wally Kroguletz breathed his last at Menno Home in Abbotsford B.C. surrounded by his wife Lydia and seven family members.
Wally was born in Nikolajev, Ukraine on June 7, 1937 to Alexander and Alice Kroguletz. Only 3 months after his birth, the KGB transferred his father to a Forced Labour Camp in Siberia for being a Christian leader.
Wally was protected by the hand of God through tumultuous times of bombings and close escapes, travelling from German Occupied Ukraine to East Germany and finally to West Germany.
In 1951, Wally, his mother, and 2 sisters, Anne and Nellie, sailed to Canada with the help of the Baptist World Alliance. He married Lydia (Flohr) on July 18, 1959.
Prior to his biblical studies, Wally worked as a topographical, mechanical, and electrical draftsman.
Pastor Wally attended McMaster Univ., Langara College, N.A.B. College and Seminary as well as a seminary in Hamburg, Germany. He received his Bachelor of Theology in 1963, was ordained in 1964, and served as a bilingual senior pastor in Regina, Sask; Cleveland, OH; Vancouver, B.C., and Salem, Oregon from 1964 to 1997. He then ministered as an interim pastor for 4 years.
Dad was listed in the 1971 Edition of "Outstanding Men of America". He volunteered with the Salvation Army, Tele Care Crisis Line, and as a Hospital Chaplain.
Wally is survived by his wife Lydia; his children Ingrid (Andrew) Abrahams, Ron (Wendy) Rehwald, and Margie (Roland) Schneider; his grandchildren Nicole & Chelsea (Jimmy) Gill; Hayden, Jenae (TJ) Stretton, & Tristan; and Steven (Tina) Schneider, Katherine (Chris) Churcher, Caleb & Jonathan; and his great-grandchild Elijah.
Opa was enthusiastic in his work for the Lord and cherished the Word of God (the Bible). His heart was to share the love of Christ Jesus. He adored God's creation, sang wholeheartedly, mentored thoughtfully, and prayed fervently.
The family would like to acknowledge the compassionate care of Chaplain Ingrid Schultz, staff at Menno Home, and those who lifted Wally up in prayer.
The memorial celebration will be held on Friday November 19, 2021 at Abbotsford Baptist Church 33651 Busby Rd, Abbotsford, BC V2S 1V2 at 3:00 pm. Please RSVP Ingrid Abrahams at the_abrahamsfamily@hotmail.com.
