Rev. Peter Wall Gunther

Rev. Peter Wall Gunther was born on August 10, 1931 in Chortiza, Russia to Peter and Anna Gunther. He immigrated to Canada in 1947. Peter married Melane Kroeker in 1954 in Landmark, Manitoba. Peter was a man of many trades and work experiences, but his main labour of love was poultry farming. Peter was deeply committed to the church and community. In 1959 he was ordained as a lay minister and served when called and as long as he was able. Peter and Melane's marriage of 62 years blessed them with 6 children; Peter (Marita), John (Ingried), David (Teresa), Philip (Janine), Edward and Ruth (Craig). They were also blessed with 20 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Peter was predeceased by Adrian (1990), Edward (2013) and Melane (2016). Peter was a godly man who lived and shared the Gospel. He loved connecting with people, making friends and being a source of encouragement. He was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on October 8, 2019 at the age of 88. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at 11:00 am at Eben-Ezer Mennonite Church, 2051 Windsor Street, Abbotsford. Rev. Philip A. Gunther will officiate.
