Rev. J.E.F. DRESSELHUIS

April 16, 2005

Rev. J.E.F.

Born September 19, 1927 Oldeboorn, The Netherlands.

With fondest affection and great sadness we announce the passing of our husband and father, Jan Eddo Frans Dresselhuis, who went to be with his Father in heaven on Saturday, April 16, 2005 at the age of 77.

His life touched lives the world over, whether as a pastor to congregations in Lobith (Netherlands), Belleville, Edmonton and Brandon (Canada), and in the last part of his ministry as Harbour Chaplain of the Christian Reformed Church, tending to the many needs of seafarers in the port of Vancouver and surroundings. In his retirement years, spent in Abbotsford, he enjoyed volunteering as a counselor with the Telecare Crisis Line, and visitation of those in need.

Known as “Jef”, “John”, “Prins”, “Dominee”, “Padre”, Opa, Dad (and many others), he was a man full of love, compassion, encouragement and humour to all who knew him.

Our assurance and comfort lies in the fact that he is now in the presence of the God he loves because of what Jesus Christ has made possible for all.

His life will be remembered in a service of remembrance on Friday, April 22, 2005 at 1:00 pm at Living Hope C.R.C., 34631 Old Clayburn Road, Abbotsford, BC.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Mina, daughters: Jolinka (John), Christianne (Glenn), Gwendolyn (Hans) and son Jeffrey (Andrea); 11 grandchildren; as well as sisters Etty, Agaath and Cisca, their husbands, and relatives in Holland. He was predeceased by father Frans Dresselhuis and mother Ettje Dresselhuis — Grootjans.

Special thanks to Dr. Karim, the doctors and nurses of the Cardiac units at Royal Columbian Hospital.

“For now we see as in a mirror, dimly; then, we shall see face to face” (I Corinthians 13).
