Rene Van Dokkumburg

Rene Van Dokkumburg passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord on February 1, 2017 at Menno Hospital, Abbotsford. Rene was predeceased by her husband of 47 years Allen in September 2000, son Harold in September 2004. She is survived by her children, Paul, Gord (Joanne), daughter-in-law Joane (Harold), Brian (Kathy), John (Wendy), Teresa (Charles) Betty (Jake) plus many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Rene was born in Winterswyk, Netherlands and married Allen shortly before immigrating to Canada in 1953, settling in the Fraser Valley. As her family grew so did her ability to create a loving family home that later included foster children. As a member of Bethel Reformed Church she enjoyed serving in various ministries and singing in the choir. Her concern for others brought her to volunteer with the Abbotsford Hospice Society, and she found it very rewarding. Flowers and gardening were also a large part of Mom's life. We would like to thank the staff at Menno Hospital for their loving care in her final years. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, February 8th at 1:00 pm at Bethel Reformed Church.
