Ralph was called Home to heaven on Sunday, March 8, 2009 at 87 years of age, following a brief stay in hospital. Born and raised in Simmie, Saskatchewan, Ralph served his country as a radar technician(1942-1945) stationed in Regina, Kingston, Toronto, Prince Rupert, Victoria and Ottawa. Ralph met Mary (née Pratt) in 1941 while teaching Vacation Bible School in southwestern Saskatchewan. They were married on April 24, 1946 and spent the next 62 years of their lives together, loving and serving others. After pastoring with the United Church of Canada in rural Saskatchewan for some years, Ralph and Mary farmed in Ravenscrag, SK (1954-1961) and Cremona, AB (1961-1998). In November of 1998 they moved to Abbotsford to be near their eldest son, whose health was in serious decline due to multiple sclerosis. Ralph was predeceased by his parents and 11 siblings, and his eldest son Ron (2003). He is survived by his beloved wife Mary, daughter Rose Carleton, son Neil (Valerie) Carleton, daughter-in-law Gladys (Ken) Reeve all of Abbotsford, foster son Peter (Carol) McNairn of Calgary, granddaughters Nikki Carleton of Nelson, Emmy (Jason) Epp and Coralie Carleton of Abbotsford, and grandsons Logan and Landon McNairn of Calgary. A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13, at Abbotsford Evangelical Free Church, 33218 Marshall Road (Marshall and Ware). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Millar College of the Bible, Box 25, Pambrun, SK S0N 1W0 (www.millarcollege.ca) or to a charity of your choice.
