VEENBAAS Popke, 1924 ~ 2012. Popke went gently to be with his Lord on February 18, 2012, with his wife at his side. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jantje; children George (Pam), Sid (Winny), Jane, Ray (Marian), Grace (Leonard), Fred; 16 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. Popke came to Canada on his honeymoon to pursue his dream of farming. He spent many years dairy farming before switching careers to become a milk tester until his retirement. With his wife by his side, he enjoyed those retirement years travelling the backroads and byways of the country he loved. He was an active member of his church and a strong supporter of Christian education and Christian ministries worldwide. The family wishes to express gratitude and heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Menno Home for their kind and loving care. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, February 24, 2012, at 1:00 pm at Living Hope Christian Reformed Church, 34631 Old Clayburn Rd., Abbotsford.
