Phyllis Olga Strand (Law), born in Dunleath, Saskatchewan passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 11, 2004 at the age of 85 in Abbotsford, BC.

Lovingly remembered by her seven children, Carole (Allan), Myrna, Bill (Brenda), Donna (Robert), Sharon (Neal), Herbert and Susan (Keith), 20 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, brother DeWitt (Shirley) and sister Norma (Jack), as well as countless friends.

Phyllis is predeceased by her husband, Wilfred Palmer Strand, (1988) and her grandson, David Thomas Young (2001), as well as two brothers and two sisters.

Phyllis was married to Bill and gave birth to their children in Preeceville, Saskatchewan, later selling their farm and moving to Vancouver in 1956. She was a very caring and compassionate person, as demonstrated by her loving care as a foster parent of many children for several years, followed by her work with the Anglican Church as custodian of the W.A. Memorial House in Vancouver until 1973. Phyllis then began her career outside of the home as an office manager for Sears until her retirement in 1979. She will always be remembered for her great generosity, even when she had little, and her remarkable wit and sense of humour.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 17 at 11:00 am at Henderson’s Funeral Home, 34537 Marshall Road, Abbotsford. Interment to follow at Musselwhite Cemetery, Abbotsford.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Lung Association.
