Peter Kammeraad peacefully passed away into the presence of his Lord at MSA Hospital, surrounded by loved ones. on his 38th wedding anniversary, May 26, 2003, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Peter is lovingly remembered and will forever be missed by his dear wife Alice, 4 daughters, Pauline and her husband Stewart Bosch, Alison and her husband John Arends, Lorraine and her husband kees van Bodegom and Carla Woloshe-Kammeraad, 8 grandchildren, Julie, Brad, Rachel, Trevor, Jessica, Shawn, Peter and Kelsey.
He will also be missed by his sister Neeltje (Jos), Janny (Hans) and brother Jan (Greet) all from Holland and brother Hank (Jennie) from New Mexico. Peter will be deeply missed by many friends and extended family. His parents Willem and Paulina Kammeraad predeceased him.
Peter immigrated to Canada in 1957 and met Alice in 1961, they were married in 1965. They moved to Abbotsford in 1967 and raised their family in the Fraser Valley. Peter had a love for music, playing his clarinet while accompanying his wife Alice on the accordian. He enjoyed welding and fabricating. He was creative, imaginative and helpful and was always thinking of others before himself. Peter volunteered and helped in the community through Neighbour Link and also served in his church. Through his suffering Peter never gave up. He accomplished his goals, strengthened his faith and through love, witnessed to others.
Viewing and visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, May 29, from 4 - 6 p.m. at Henderson's Funeral Home. A service celebrating Peter's Life will be held on Friday, May 30 at 10:00 a.m.,at the Living Hope Christian Reformed Church at 34631 Old Clayburn Road with Pastor Colin Vander Ploeg officiating, followed by a graveside at Hazelwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CRWRC (Christian Reformed World Relief Committee) in memory of Peter.
