PATRICK HUME

January 24, 2003

Patrick (Pat) Walter Hume was born September 15, 1930, in Vancouver, B.C., passed away suddenly at his home in Deroche on January 24th, 2003. He is loved and remembered by his companion of 20 years Barbara, his 4 children, Chris (White Rock), Brent (Vancouver), Kim (Whitehorse), Nancy (Alberta) and four grandchildren. His family and friends in Mission who love him dearly will also sadly miss him.

Pat attended St. George's School in Vancouver before moving to Quadra Island with his family. At the age of 15, Pat went to Australia to finish boarding school. He came back to attend Qualicum College before spending many years living and working in Vancouver. In Vancouver he was married and had four children. Pat met Barb at McConnell Creek Bingo in 1983 while he was residing at Miracle Balley Treatment Centre. Pat and Barb lived in Mission for many years before moving to Deroche where he passed on peacefully on Friday evening. He spent many years helping men and women overcome their addictions with alcohol and drugs.

Pat loved life. He was passionate about spending time at the ocean and he loved sailing. He loved spending time with Barbara and their family in Deroche. He was a true friend to all who knew him and he touched the lives of many.

A special thank-you to the North Fraser Fire Dept., the nurses at Mission Memorial Hospital, New Heights Community Church, friends and neighbours who have been there for our family during this time.

All are welcome and encouraged to join us for a celebration of Pat's life to be held Friday, January 31st at 10:00 a.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 57, 32608 Fraser Crescent, Mission, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to New Heights Community Church.
