Patricia Diane Truswell passed away peacefully on July 6, 2011, in Milwaukee, WI, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Diane was born at Grace Hospital in Vancouver, BC on July 17, 1948. In Diane’s early years, the family moved around to several communities, including Kelowna, Langley

and Lillooet and finally settled in Mission, BC. She graduated from the Mission High School in June 1966. Diane went on to graduate from Vancouver Vocational Institute in Vancouver,

BC and worked on the trading desk at Pemberton Securities and later ran the trading department for Pemberton Securities in Kelowna, BC. In 1972, Diane met and married Byron “Bud” Truswell in Kelowna and they made their home in Wenatchee, WA, where they started a new mining business called Wenatchee Silica Products, Inc. Upon selling the business in 1984, Diane

became an active partner in MT Investments and several other successful business ventures in Canada

and the USA. Diane was very active in the community of Wenatchee; she was past President of Beta Sigma Phi

and instrumental in starting a new chapter, past Secretary of the Inland Empire AAU for Swimming, past regional representative and coordinator for Weight Watchers in North Central Washington, past President of the 18 hole ladies’ club at the Wenatchee Golf and Country Club, past member of the

Kelowna Golf and Country Club and the Lea Lea Golf Club in Kona, HI, and was also First Lady of the Wenatchee Applarians in 1993. Diane left Wenatchee in 1997, when she and Bud separated and she moved to Milwaukee, WI, where she is survived by her partner and best friend, Mary Kling. In Wisconsin, she was a founding member

of the Badger Mutual Insurance/Brown Deer Women’s Amateur Golf Tournament, member of the New Berlin Hills Golf Club and Greenfi eld Golf Club. Diane had recently assumed the duty of President of the Metro Women’s Public Links Golf Association. Diane was a published novelist and poet, an accomplished painter and a creative cook. Diane was a world traveler, going to Western and Eastern Europe, Asia, South America, Russia, Australia and New

Zealand. She was the devoted mother of Hallie (Greg Bradley) Truswell in Seattle, WA, Byron McRae Truswell in N. Vancouver, BC and Bradford (Summer) Truswell in Kirkland, WA; proud grandmother of Victoria, Madeline and Travis; loving daughter of Lucy and the late Russell Glen Garry; and dear sister

of Laney, Bob and Donald Garry. She was loved by many and will be missed dearly.

A Memorial Service will be held in Kelowna in August.
