Pat Hougen, wife, mother, nana, great-nana and aunt passed away at 91 years of age on Sunday, January 2, 2022. Pat was predeceased by her father Frank, her mother Glenna (Evans), her brother Dan and her daughter Deborah (Jack). Pat will be forever remembered by her husband Jack as the love of his life. Pat is also lovingly remembered by her children Beverly Harris (Dan) and Barbara Daenckaert (Daryl, predeceased); her grandchildren Marilyn, Jason (Amanda), Jennifer (Ray), Athena, Charlie (Theresa), Glenna (Peter) and Cary (Alicia). Pat was very proud of and loved her 16 great grandchildren. Pat will always be remembered by her nieces, nephews, and extended family and dear friends.
Pat was born in Nanaimo, B. C. and at three years old moved to Vancouver where she spent her childhood. Pat attended Lord Byng High School and went on to receive her teaching certificate in Victoria, B. C. She taught grade one at Upper Sumas Elementary School in Abbotsford for two years from 1950 to 1952. Pat married Jack on August 29, 1952 and settled on Jack's dairy farm on Campbell Road in Sumas Prairie where they raised their family.
Pat volunteered for the MSA Hospital Auxiliary for many years and served as president for two years. Pat enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and reading. Pat and Jack spent a lifetime travelling the world and made many great memories together.
Pat's celebration of life will be held at a time and place to be determined in the Spring.
