Omar Friesen 1922 - 2013
Not Omar Kyyam, not Omar Bradley, not Omar Sherif, BUT Omar Friesen was a man whose witty comebacks and humorous comments will be missed at the Menno Home. Born on July 5th, 1922 in Hague, SK, he was the fifth, not to mention the most handsome, in a line of 8 children born to John C and Kathrine Friesen. He and his wife Hilda (Boldt) raised five children, Gaye Toews, Terry Friesen, Jan Anderson, Chris Friesen and Carla Kamps who all reside in BC,10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and his brothers, Menno, Jack, Buno and Ed. Omar passed from this life on Tuesday, June 18th at the age of ninety. He will be missed, as will his full drawer of chocolate in his bedside table. Omar believed that he would meet up with Hilda and they would be together with their Heavenly Father for the rest of eternity. A private memorial was held at Woodlawn Funeral Home on June 26th.
