Olwen Irene passed into the presence of her Lord peacefully at the Menno home on June 1, 2007, to meet her husband Vern, in heaven, on his birthday.
She was born in Ponoka, Alberta, April 5, 1916. She is survived by six children, Wally Ward (Audrey) of Calgary, AB, Laine (Ken Findlay) of Abbotsford, BC, Bonnie (Ron Hunt) of Lacombe, AB, Billie Ann (Hugh McLennan) of Kamloops, BC, Kirby Ward (Isabel) of Blackfalds, AB, Shelley (Eric Schwaerzle) of Abbotsford, BC, as well as her 16 grandÂchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren. She was married in December of 1933. She worked along side of her husband Vern on the family farm until 1964, when they moved to Ponoka district where she worked at the PM hospital until they moved to Abbotsford in 1969. She was a care aide for 4 years for a couple in Mission. Mom’s home was always open for family and friends and she was always willing to drop everything to visit with anyone. Mom had been a resident in Menno Home since 2004 where she always made everyone smile because she was always smiling.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday June 9, 2007 at the Maranatha Baptist Church 3580 Clearbrook Road, in Abbotsford, BC at 2:00 PM. For those desiring, donations in loving memory of Olwen to Vision Canada would be greatly appreciated.
