PAPOU, Olga

1936 - 2015

Olga Papou, (nee Retzlaff) aged 79 of Abbotsford, B.C. passed away on December 4th, 2015. Olga was predeceased by her husband, Alex, in April 2014. Olga will be lovingly remembered by many generations of relatives including the Retzlaff and Papou families and missed by her longtime friends, Mary, Ruby and Mandy.

Born on November 11, 1936 at Ethelbert, Manitoba, Olga was the youngest of eight siblings and is survived by her brother, Vic Retzlaff (Marg), and sisters, Eva Esau and Kay Retzlaff.

Later the family moved to B.C. and she spent a great deal of time on acreages in the Mt. Lehman and Arnold areas.

In 1978 she married her loving husband, Alex, and in 1980 they moved to Kelowna because Olga was suffering from Rheumatoid Arthritis and the drier climate would be good for her.

Eventually they moved back to the Abbotsford area and they were active members of the Abbotsford Baptist Church. Olga had many friends at the church who visited her often.

Olga's health continued to deteriorate due to arthritis and in 2010, Olga moved to Menno Home. In spite of her physical limitations, Olga never lost her faith and trust in the Lord. Her strength, courage and determination was such an inspiration to many.

A special thanks to the staff at Menno Home who took such good care of Olga. She will be missed!

A reception will be held at 1:30 pm, Thursday, December 10, 2015 at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford.
