O.J. (Lee) Friesen who was born on August 19th, 1924, peacefully passed away on October 22nd, 2003 in the Chilliwack General Hospital.

Born is Mundare, Lee continued to reside in Alberta until 1943 when she joined the Canadian Women’s Army Corps. She proudly served in Halifax, Nova Scotia until the end of the war before returning to Alberta and marrying Robert (Bob) Friesen in 1948. Lee and Bob had two daughters.

In 1955 the Friesen family moved to Ocean Fall, B.C. and then to Castlegar in 1960.

For the next eight years Lee worked at Castlegar City Hall. She then accepted a position at West’s Department Store as a business partner and managed the office and travel agency.

After retiring in 1987, Lee and Bob moved to Abbotsford, B.C. where she developed an avid interest in golf and was thrilled to have twice scored a hole in one.

Lee enjoyed traveling and entertaining for friends and family.

She was predeceased by her husband Bob and her daughter Barbara Jones.

Lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her daughter Shirley (Gordon) Logan, grandchildren Dale and Erin Logan, Lynn (George) Hamm and her great-grandchildren Zackery and Adrina Hamm; her sisters Joan Radomske, Helene (Peter) Hrabec, Sylvia (Jim Holowach) Tanasiuk and brother Marvin (Deanna) Lieber. Lee was also loved and will be missed by her many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2003 at 1:00 from St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church at 33333 Mayfair Ave., Abbotsford with Father Glen Dion celebrant. A reception at the church hall will follow the Funeral Mass.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army in memory of Lee.
